I'm having a hell of a time finding pre filters for the K&N triple mod.
Has anyone had better luck finding something nice that fits the RU-2780's?
I looked at K&N and OuterWear's web sites to no avail. Found an Outerwear part number (20-2084) but it must be an old number or discontinued since it doesn't show up anywhere.
I'm cutting up a chrome bear claw and need something to show off the filters other than the filters themselvs. The tops of the 2780's are just too **** plain. I've seen some chrome top covers on a couple bikes but can't seem to find them either.
I also thought about not cutting the claw up so high that the tops won't show.
I'd love to hear some suggestions, tips and see what you guys who cut-up or eliminated the claw have done.
Show me what you got.

I was afraid I'd have to go with some kind of baggy knock-offs, time to break out the sewing machine and start a new product line there Flip.

Don't laugh..... I went to Hobby Lobby and bought 3 candle molds. They are made of aluminum alloy (the color of motor case). They are about the size of an old oil can. They are slightly larger than my K&N's and fit right over. They extend almost all the way to the bottom of the paper filter. I took a glop of JB weld and put it on the top of the K&N's and then set the "cans" upside down over the filters. There is a good 1/4 to 1/2 inch area between the "can" and the filter to allow plenty of air. I think they look mean. At least tougher than a "sock".

Their just home made Plexaglass lids..Had them clear and ya could see the plates opening with leds inside the filters. Then painted them..Just like to paint. The trim around the bottom is just that stick on chrome car side molding from Checker auto....Have fun.Make it your own. Jack

Decorated looks a lot better than the filter socks. The prefilters do serve a small purpose and you don't have to cut the bearclaw to run triple K&Ns.

I sometimes get gaught in the rain so I thought the socks might help shed a bit of the water since they will be exposed after I chop up the extra claw. I didn't really want to put some floppy, loose fitting generic socks on 'em since they will be blowing in the wind. They are a cotton material, Maybe I'll try dying them a color and see how that turns out.

Wow, lights inside the filters ... **** dude, I thought I was the tinkering king. Bet that looked funky with clear tops. You have given me a couple ideas, thanks.
