Finally!!!

I spent every night of this week working on the Rocket and now have the PC5, triple filters and Jardines installed and secondaries removed. Love the looks, love the sound, love the feel and cannot wait to open her up!

I downloaded the stock PC5 map which says "K & N, Jardines and Tune ECU secondaries open". I don't use Tune ECU but am assuming this is the equivalent of the secondaries I have removed.

Am I safe to run this setup until I get a dyno? Can I push the bike or should I take it easy until the dyno? Am I able to upload a PC5 map that someone has for triple K & N's, Jardines and no secondaries?

Advice and assistance appreciated because I'm looking forward to a sweet ride tonight and would really like to test her out!!!

(I don't have Autotune right now)

I hope Hans or one of the other gurus step in here for you.. does the map give more info on the K&N part... like is it the under seat filter or the 3 under the claw?

I would be a little worried about running lean if it was meant for the under seat filter, and you are getting the increased airflow of 3 filters....

That was my worry as the map only says K & N filter. Would be extremely painful to park the bike waiting for a dyno.....

Hanso, are you out there oh guru of the PC5?

John go into tune ecu and add 3% to you trims that should be safe. after some miles you can pull a plug and see what she looks like. straw colored or tan is what your shooting for it should hold you off till you get on the dyno. Just save the map under a different name like so you know what you have in her.

For my own confusion at this point ....
I thought the PCV managed the fuel once it was installed.
Does it not override the settings in the ECU?

Warp - I'm only running the PC5 - no Tune ECU. Just brought her back from the tire change and took it easy just in case I'm running too lean. Took a lot of will power not to crank that throttle!

I would take it easy till dyno, it will be safe as long as you don't use prolonged heavy throttle on long rides in fact avoid long rides

question I ask is why didn't you get the Auto Tune? you don't need a dyno then

a bit but as I said above it would be save in short term just no spirited riding you guys got remember the std Rocket tunes are very lean to start with

It stll needs a Dyno to set exact fueling unless you are running a AT

It does intercept the signal coming from the ecu What I should have said was add 3% across the board to the PCV map for safety and then check the plugs after you run her say 50 miles or so. I have not been on a dyno with mine yet as the only dyno in the area knows I broke one with the beast. I do watch my plugs though. Just checked them the other day to be sure I was not lean. The PC unit are signal interceptors and are getting more advanced which is why we have a PCV that will now tune and monitor in each gear also. Hanso is one of the more knowledgeable blockes on the site as he has had more play time. You should try one of his maps even though his pipes are not the same.

John you should buy the cable for the ECU and then download TuneEcu.
It will allow you to check many of the systems on the bike, the cables are cheap, and TuneEcu is free.
You can then balance throttles, check and adjust the TPS, along with a host of other things.
