No wonder I got oil running down everywhere. I bought a spray can of K&N oil and sprayed the crap out of the big filters. If a little is good a lot must be better (NOT)
I live on a dirt road...maybe 1/4 mile of it. The new large filters did not feel oily when I put them on last Friday.

As you said live and learn, I have been running K&N's in All my bikes and cars for the last 30 years and it was a lesson learnt early. When cleaned they are white you only need just enought oil to stain them pinky red any excess will just run off and make a mess, be sure to check em thu so that you have not left any white areas
"Someone else" over-oiled mine just before the trip to Hervey Bay. Had crap running down over the oil tank and side of the engine; stains my jeans still. You definitely only need give them a light oiling.
Does anyone have the specifications for the K&Ns , my son works for the people who sell BMC air filters, he might be able to get the equivalent filter in BMC.
I had a quick look at the BMC catalogue and they only do univerasal pod filters with 50mm & 55mm inside diameter.

Are the RU-2780 filters big enough to get the maximum performance out of this Beast with a set of Rebands short muffler pipe? Also is This bike with these upgrades tunable with the ECM or does it need and aftermarket Fuel management at this point such as PCV?
If performance is your goal I would wait to see how the Ramair filter testing works out. I have K&N's on mine already but I will probably swap over to Ramair if they prove to be better
