Has anyone used a silicone waterproofing spray treatment, like you use for boots and shoes, on the back side material of the panniers? I'm not looking to make them waterproof, but it might help keep them looking good and help with cleaning if they get dirty from getting caught in the rain. I've seen some pretty messy pictures of the panniers after a ride in the rain. The material almost looks like cordura used on soft bags. I have sprayed that bag material to keep it looking nice and for UV protection. Just being a little proactive for a weather event.
I use 303 for my sailboat's bimini, and it works perfectly. But it doesn't have UV protection. Whatever you use, get a small paint roller and roll it on, rather than spray. You'll necessarily use more but get much better coverage.
You might try Scotchgard Water and Sun shield, which does have UV protection. Come to think of it, I'll try it too. Not sure if it's silicon-based.

Looks like what I'm looking for and it has good reviews overall. I'll give it a try. If it makes the bags easier to clean after getting messed up, it will work. As for the UV protection, I don't really run the bags that much unless I need extra gear, taking a trip or expecting rain. As a result, they are not out in the sun much. My small tail bag holds most of what I might need and I can always strap a few things on the pillion. Thanks
Speaking of bags ( Panniers), I bought a used 2022 GT with bags, but previous owner lost one (right side) when it popped off while riding.
He learned the hard way that you need to make sure they're snapped one solidly before riding. He never heard or felt it come off. He retraced
his route but was not able to find it.
So....I'm missing the right pannier. See pic of left side.
I haven't been to the dealer yet to see how much ($$$$$) it would be to replace. Of course, there's the problem of getting matching keys. ;-(
Does anybody have one to sell? Don't have much confidence I will find one, but need to try before shelling out the bucks

It's a pickle I tell you when something like that happens. I always make sure mine are secured and I hear that latch click. They are not cheap and you may save money buying a used set instead of one. I did see a couple on Ebay, but the right one on one set looks a little rough. You may want to create a post about what you are looking for if you haven't already. Good luck
