Most technical fields use the metric system because it is far superior.
This country is slow but surely going metric. Kids are now being taught metric in high school sciences.
I'd personally just as soon the U.S. convert to metric. I get tired of having two tool sets. Outsourced parts are metric and U.S. ones standard, makes for excess trips into the tool box
The metric system is a no brainer for any calculations ,the weights, Dimensions and liquid measuring is just so simple, grams, kilograms to tonnes and CC, litres to kilolitres and Cm to metres and kilometres so basic, I grew up with the imperial system but looking back it was a hotch potch of random figures and odd calculations, 12 inches,1760 feet,5280 feet ,2240Lb 6.25 gallons in a cubic foot ect try teaching that to a Metricised
Some things don't work in RC and are much better in CofE. "I'd walk 1,609,344 kilometres for one of your smiles" doesn't scan that well, and "157.5 centimetres, eyes of blue" hasn't quite the charm of the original.

Not to mention He 0.453592 Kg ed her like a Mallard Duck, just doesn't sound the same
or a 45.546litre Hat doesn't sound like real Western headwear
and the 910 .44 metre stare means nothing
the list goes on
