+1 on Native One's comment. That happened to one of our members. The filter cover is functional. I was advised by my friend who has the performance V-twin shop to always be careful of cross-referenced replacement filters because of internal differences on some. I don't know exactly what that means but I think it had something to do with an internal valve. The $6.00 automotive filter (rear cover type) fit fine so you don't have to buy the Triumph tool.
