I have the K&N Chrome. It was a little more but I like the look and it replaces the stock chromed oil cover look nicely. I also like the nut on the end of the filter as I can't stand banded filter wrenches or monkeying around with sized filter wrenches and having to stock various ones for different applications. I wish more filter manufacturers would do what K&N did, makes torquing it down to the right specs easy.

Yes, but wait until you hit a rock or something is thrown up into it and it begins to leak oil without the chrome cover! That's why the cover is there.

+1 on Native One's comment. That happened to one of our members. The filter cover is functional. I was advised by my friend who has the performance V-twin shop to always be careful of cross-referenced replacement filters because of internal differences on some. I don't know exactly what that means but I think it had something to do with an internal valve. The $6.00 automotive filter (rear cover type) fit fine so you don't have to buy the Triumph tool.

Autozone will order the k&n for you, its around 14 bucks. They also carry quarts of the mobil 1 4t motorcycle oil at 10 bucks. So an oil change is gonna cost you around 70 bucks if you do it yourself. 8)

I know you're probably not interested but the Pure Power lifetime filters work really good. I love mine and if you're thinking about keeping your R3 for a long time, it may be an investment worth looking at. My next oil change I'm going with Amsoil 20-50. Cheaper and a superior oil to Mobil 1 T4. In 4 oil changes you'll have your Pure Power oil filter paid for and your Rocket 3 will love you for it.

Just my two cents worth!!

Just get the Triumph one, I know it's $20 but you only change it 3-4 times a year so what's the big deal? Not a pricey as the tires!

The problem is that the nearest Triumph shop is 60 miles away and Autozone is about 1.5 miles. Yeah, I can mail order, but then you pay shipping and all that crap. Go to Autozone, get the Mobil M1-108 and the oil and you're done.

Who says?

Who says Amsoil is the best? Amsoil?

Just me penny back at ya as change.
