Numbing Hands

I am getting a few miles on the GT. Runs great. I used some insolation to hold back the heat from the pipes.
My only problem is the vibration in the hand grips. Like other bikes that I had a similar problem , I put on a set of Buddy Grips. They worked great on the BMWs, Indians , and Moto Guzzi.
I just got back from a short 50miles run. The grips are a improvement. Problem is that the vibrations come through, and put my left hand asleep, and the right hand is not to far behind. I talked to the man who has the handlebar snakes. They have to go inside the bars, but there are wires in there. He asked if I could move them to the outside of the bars. I decided that I would be wise to ask for advice. BTW I do wear the gloves with Gel pads in the palms.

Maybe and I'm not being smart but you might have a blood flow problem. It's not just vibrations that make your hands go numb. A good throttle lock that allows you to get some movement ought to help.

Blood flow is good. The VA has been checking that not only in the hands. Good thought thou. I have had this problem for many years. Sometimes Bar end weights will do the trick. Not here. Thanks for your time.

Have you had carpal tunnel surgery? There are a couple of good tests (google is your friend) you can do at home to help diagnose, if they are positive you may want to talk to your doc at the VA. I had issues with tingling and numbness after riding a bit and carpal tunnel surgery fixed it all.

Thanks for the idea. I have had the Carpal Tunnel checked out. My Acupuncture Dr, { he is a rear one from Asia) , gave me some tricks to get rid of the stiffness or cramps in my hand. Very simple. Russ

Most of us riders have the hand goes numb from riding.
Relax, and grip more like holding a screwdriver.
I have a similar issue when I have to paint with a brush ( construction) or use a trowel for too long.
It's called getting old. Just change your grip and learn to be able to pump your hands while you ride now and again.
One issue is that you have your arms bent too much. When I ride my ninja I do not have this issue as I lean into the hand but on rockets we hold on and pull down a little. Also position your levels correctly helps.

The throttle lock helps a lot with the right hand just releasing that grip helps a lot.

I find it's more of a problem with my right (throttle) hand and think maybe from gripping tighter than with the left. I just found that when they start to go numb if, while still holding the handlebars, I "tap" just my first, then second, then third, then pinkie finger to the bar (one at a time) and reverse and repeat for a couple of reps, that it restores my hands for a while. Other than the "tapping" finger leave your other fingers extended over the brake or clutch lever.

If you touch each finger to your thumb, one at a time, it's similar to what I'm describing, but you're touching the handlebar instead of your thumb. Give it a whirl and see if it might help...
