2005 Rocket III
Had the bike a week. 23K miles. Bought from a friend. He was the 2nd owner. We both live beachside in Central FL. Tons of cleaning up and corrosion mitigation due to him not caring. It's sad how poorly done the chrome plating is done on some bikes. My Stratoliner is similar in the poor plating department but I keep chugging away. My Vulcan VN2000 had bulletproof chrome. The mirrors, handlebars and clock/fuel gauge bar mounts are heavily corroded.

The bike seems mechanically sound other than brakes, tires and the horn. No sign of transmission or CAM issues.

Welcome. I feel that the chrome on these bikes are superior to most. Especially H-D. I just sold a Vulcan and I will agree the chrome on that was excellent. But the truth is I hate chrome. Just keep it clean and dry and you will be good. If it sucks too bad have it painted or powder coated.

If the bike was not parked in doors that might be your problem as you are so close to the Gulf you could throw a stone and hit it.

We live near each other. All our bikes are kept in a garage. There is a huge difference in the quality of chrome and the choice of base metals between makes and models. Too many choose garbage base metals and then skimp on the preparation and finally the thickness of the chrome. My only problem is that some items like the gauge pod clamps have no replacement so I cannot fix the corrosion if I wanted. It is what it is.....

WELCOME to you, @Busaboy diagonal across the land in WA State.
I still have/though seldom ride my 04 V2K. Good motor, R3R a better motor!
