Went to a dealer to have my front tire mounted and they bent a rotor,of course they denied any wrong doing, now I'll pay $25 dollars and let a third party hear it out. The owner and his mechanic will both lose a day's pay while they explain how it didn't happen,if I win that's good and if I lose, well it cost them money also,by being out of work. I was lucky to find the parts,I went to a sight (Fasteddy.com) and he's shipping me the rotors real quick. I gotta get a tire machine.

Just replaced my rear rotor that had been warped since I bought the bike used. Been wondering how it got that way. I know the previous owner was heavy on the back brake... Anyway, nice to have a smooth and effective rear brake. Good luck on your case.

I remove my own wheels and take them to a friend who is a master Harley tech with a Coats tire machine and balancer for M/C tires in his garage at his home. After watching him dismount and remount many sets of tires on all of my bikes, including my R3T, I would surmise it would take an "idiot" to bend a brake rotor while dismounting and remounting a tire on a rim. But with that said,,,,there out there! Customer beware! Look for fresh marks on the rotor that is bent from the tire dismounting/mounting tool.

Called a Triumph dealer and was quoted a price of $300us for one rotor and it would take over a wk. or so to arrive. The guy at Fasteddy sports is shipping the ebc rotors right away to me. Now I'm off to file a claim aginst the bike shop for one rotor. All I wanted was for the bike shop to pay for the rotor they damaged, nothing more. The bike shop is going to lose more in lost revenue just going to court. My hope is that they'll just pay for the part after they receive the notice, if not I'll get some satisfaction knowing that I cost them money also.

some places are just notorious for the "it was already that way". I hope you do win this and if you do make sure they cover the cost of getting the Triumph Rotor and its installation by a reputable dealer. There is a local shop in my area that I dropped off a 1978 CB250 for my step father in hopes that they could get it running. A week later I came to get it and they handed me a bucket of parts along with the bike. They tried charging me an arm and a leg for labor and I told them I requested to get the bike running not taken apart! They basically stated that they couldn't get it back together and couldn't tell if it would run. I told them that if they want the money I get the bike back in 1 piece and not in a bucket and told them that I would be happy to have a lawyer discuss the value of the work they did. The owner happily loaded the parts into my trunk and sent me on my way with an apology. Either way some shops will try anything if they mess up to still get you to pay or say it isn't their fault.

I pull my front rotors before taking it down to the tire shop so they do not get damaged. The rear can be done while on the rim, but barley. I pull it to just in case.

I recently had a pair of tyres supplied and fitted, I removed all three discs thinking on the safe side - shop said "thats ok" but cant balance them without, so had to go back the next day with the discs and fit them. Cost me extra 50 miles round trip.

Yep. Not if you want to balance it right. The rotors should not have to be pulled if the shop has a high quality tire machine, not some cheap crap machine. And a Tech that knows what he is doing!

You found a shop that couldn't repair a Honda CB250???.. Wow..1 cylinder, 1 spark plug, 1 carb.. what else is there?.. lol That is hilarious.
