New Corbin Rumble Seat Review - 2015 RR3

I recently purchased a Corbin Rumble seat for my 2015 Rocket Roadster 3 so I can take my kids for rides. I'm not a fan of the traditional sissy bar setup and found the Rumble seat a good match for my needs. Below is a short initial review of the seat after only one ride. I will report back after more seat time.

I opt'd for the black carbon fiber vinyl instead of leather for durability and maintenance reasons. It also reasonably matches the factory CF vinyl finish on the stock seats. Overall the product construction and quality are very good. It's built like a tank with firm foam and robust base plate. Hardware and bracket fit very good requiring very little adjustment. It took maybe 10 minutes to install. The backrest has a very solid feel and moves up and down with ease but is still firm where it won't fall down if up. Very well designed system. The back cover plate is black carbon fiber plastic.

I'm 6'-8" and 320 lbs so by no means a small guy. The thing I like about this seat is how it moves you a little further back and down relative to the factory seating position. You feel like you're sitting in the bike rather than on top of the bike. So far I like it and from what I've been told Corbin seats take a while to break in so comfort is expected to get better over time.

I'm not real crazy bout the shape of that thing, but it's a darn good idea! If it had more classical lines I'd like it more. It's been my experience that the seat foam takes about 1000 miles to get used to you, and you to it. It's not an all at once thing...you just one day realize....hey! this is pretty good!

I bought one ten years ago put it on the bike and took it right off I personally did not like the look took a massive loss as no one else wanted it I ended up selling it for $200
Now my other Corbin seats (fastgun) I love as hard as a brick and has been for ten years, do not believe the BS about the Corbin seats breaking in mine never have after 70000miles

Yeah I get that some folks don't like the "looks" of the seat but that's a minor thing to me. It is a little oversized for the shape of the bike but if it's comfy and hauls my kid around without sliding off the back I don't care. Function > form.

I've got double backrests...mainly so my nephew doesn't disappear suddenly!

I made a back rest by welding a plate to the passenger base plate, its only short with a small padded back rest [ to stop wifey feeling that she is going slip off] now its of to be powder coater.

this is a great seat for rider and the occasional passenger.but 2 large humans will find it tight.i have been living with this seat for 9 yrs now and find it very good solo,but when you add a passenger they will need to be on the small side.ive had people on the large side and they intrude on the riders space considerably,add that this seat does push the rider back a bit.also I have noticed that this seat splays your legs apart when standing over the bike eating legroom , mines an 05 standard,i have noticed friends who couldn't flat foot a stop with both feet,who could otherwise with a stock seat.on another note mine was not waterproof from the factory,this is my 2nd rumble seat, the first one was fine ,but was replaced by my ins co after an accident.this 2nd seat made my ass wet every time it rained.i coat it with water repellant every f ew years.you can also jettison that crap mounting bracket and use a stock seat pin, with the key.otherwise youll have to ride with the appropr,iate allen wrench in your pocket in case of any battery or fuse trouble,it seems like a bad design.and did I mention its heavy,my heated version easily weighs double what my stock seat and pillion pad did.another plus for the stock seat pin conversion is it can be easily swapped out for the stocker in seconds.

My first Corbin was terribly uncomfortable. Sent it back for warranty rework at 3000 miles and it returned a totally different ride

800 miles on the seat so far and I love it. Very comfortable when riding alone and the kid loves being able to ride with me without worrying about sliding off the back. Build quality and durability seem to be top notch. The seat is firm but not too firm.

Anybody figure out a driver's backrest with this seat?
