New Bike...Just Down!

The one back in Buffalo where I used to live accepts cash only, not exactly convenient at 2:00 am in an emergency situation. I'm sure too many people stopped payment on a check or card. But yeah, outrageous, but it's like mercy flights costing $25,000 and up, you're paying for them to be there ready and waiting until you need them

As a vet will try to shed some light on the situation:
All over the world there is a shortage of vets. In Canada and US there probably 20% of vets less than it's needed, in the UK around 5%. On top of that as vets we have a 'duty of care'. That means we are obliged by law to provide 24hrs care to pir registered patients. Or in person or out sourced to the 3rd party. And since our work is demanding anyways and we are only humas we can't work 24hrs a day 7 days a week. That creates an issue with Out Of Hours vets who can charge ridiculous ampunt of money for night or weekend shifts. And to cover their wages that's is passed onto Owners.
Locum vets in the UK , for a day shift of consulting only ( No operations, no emergencies etc) charge from 600 pounds a day, plus agency fee. Some also charge accomodation and car allowance.
I do feel for the Owners and sometimes it does feel like they are taken advantage of but on the other hand having a pet is a priviledge not a necessity. And for sure in the UK some people seem to forget it.

Mine happened 7 years ago but I get what you're saying. The vets I have had in the past have all been fantastic. It's the Emergency vet that I had problems with. I'm certain if you lived by me I would use you as a vet and of course I would expect a 30% discount.

Well, i ran over a small dog on my new '81 Honda CM400T. It was so much quieter than the 2 stroke Suzuki GT-380 I had been riding. Well this little guy ran out to chase me like he always did and ran right under the front wheel. Then I felt the bump when the rear tire went over him. I knew who owned the dog so I went over to tell them I had run over him. Son of a gun was right there and just fine. He quit chasing me after that though.
