I’m patient on that exhaust. New Zealand has been really quiet lately. But, I’m patient. That system will be stellar! You had better be building a beast this winter! 2” headers and my quickshift… Konrad is going to love it. You, not so much! All who read this should find their local drag strip and go! Sooo much fun for $20 bucks. As many runs as we wanted to do. I’ve watched drags live but actually doing it was freaking amazing and the people in the pits/parking lot are a fun hang. Do it!

Like to hear your thoughts on that new vest. Were you wearing something else before? What I have fits over my jacket and is a tether, but with a unique locking system that doesn't require you to fully extend the tether (like the cam that locks your seatbelt when you move too quickly), but under the jacket looks better and maybe having the technology is superior. Mine gets pretty hot in the summer- is there much ventilation in the TechAir? Not trying to derail your shock thread. Maybe start a new one on the vest if you'd rather not get into it here. Thanks

I installed a Wilbers 643 COMPETITION QS rear shock about two months ago and it is the best thing (along with the Penner tune/dyno) that I have modified on my bike! It really shines in corners that have bumps/irregularities on them. Amazingly smooth and trustworthy, a huge, noticeable difference from stock. On straights it is very comfortable and compliant and provides a stellar feel for the road I’m on. Large/big bumps are still sharp like the stock one but not anywhere near the jarring and then floating feeling that stock has. This one gets back down to the road surface much faster, smoother.

I really like it and definitely recommend it for our bikes except that now I’m wondering what great front ones would feel like. Oh, oh…

It's a subject that is never far from my mind when I throw a leg over and fire the bike up.

Better rear suspension is much needed if you ride on damaged tarmac roads.......The UK is just one huge mass of damaged tarmac.
Since getting the Rocket, on many of my favourite roads I have to forget the 'racing' line or the line of best vision line just so I can avoid an uncomfortable, choppy, destabilising ride, due to the either too firm or too crashy rear suspension.

Did you go for the version with the hydraulic spring pre-load set up?

as a youngster is walked to school barefoot in the snow walking uphill both ways… that said I would love to have ohlins on my bike!

DERAILER! Does THAT look like a shock? Oh, wait, that’s my pic! No problem, easier for me to find if it’s all in one thread! I can’t address the potential heat issue because I didn’t ride this weekend but I will get out today. It still won’t give me a good comparison though because the weather is so nice right now in the low 70’s. Not our upper 90’s with high humidity. I will take some pics held up to a window. It appears to be well ventilated and is supposed to be one of the cooler vests out there but there still is that plastic bag wrapped around you, right? The back seems like a pretty good design with the air channels.

I almost went with the tether system but I guarantee that I would set it off accidentally at some point. This system is pretty darn smart and was about $200 more than the tether one. Vest turns on when that little chest flap is connected and it detects movement. Battery is supposed to last about 30 hours on a full charge and is simple to access/plug in.

ETA- Went on an 80 mile ride today, temps started at 72° and ended at 75°. I had my Scorpion EXO summer mesh jacket over it and a t-shirt underneath. I could feel air reaching my body from the front and the back “ridges“ worked very well and I could feel air on my back nicely. I stopped for gas and hung out for a while with everything zipped up and I could definitely feel that I was starting to warm up. I like it and we will see if that continues in the summertime.

No, I went with the manual method because I knew that I wasn’t going to be switching it around much.

I'm taking this post along and two things seem important to point out:

1/the Wilber is probably good but too expensive in my opinion...you can go see EMC who produce magnificent shock absorbers with 2, 3 or 4 possible settings for the Rocket 3. For the fork, which, personally, I find little efficient you have the Andreani cartridges which, according to specialists, are really of very good quality. Equivalent to Öhlins.



2/ regarding the air bag, whatever the brand, I don't like these overly technological things...my choice is to wear a good quality back protector like the REV'IT


At the moment, since I'm a little "broken" after a fall in enduro, I'm putting some money aside by not riding in order to pay for an EMC shock absorber and Andreani cartridge...

Thanks for the info, glad to hear it's working good for you. I'm curious about the remote reservoir...is it's position adjustable? I can see from the pictures that it's close to the fender/splash guard and I know that the one from Nitron comes with spacers for the fender/splash guard to keep it from hitting the reservoir.
