Neutral light

Good day to you all I am new to the rocket I bought an 08 custom which was and is going well I have now clocked about 500 mile so still learning I stopped to get fuel and it wouldn't go into neutral so I thought so just filled up and headed home when I got back and went to park it up again no neutral light but bike was in neutral when I put side stand down the bike cut out so thinking its in gear but it was definitely not I then turn ignition off and back on neutral light comes on then as do all others then goes off any thoughts please

Some of the guys can find nuetral very easy but I have to work for it.
You may be in the same boat so
Without it running I have to move the bike forward to take any of the weight off the gears then it will go into nuetral easy. When running I just let out the clutch a little the bike moves forward and I grab the brake and then shift into nuetral.
You were in gear so the Sidestand safety killed the motor.
When you turn the ignition on and the gauges sweep and the lights light up that is a test for all the bulbs.
Ride it for a while and keep an eye on the light if it continues to malfunction then you will have to clean the gear position switch (gps)

Yes I let clutch out and was not in gear put side stand down and it cuts out

No light only comes on when you turn it on with the rest on the cluster

you (or mechanic) need to to pull the gps (gear position switch) and clean contacts
that is where i would start

Not sure on the Gen 1 Rockets, but could the clutch switch by the master cylinder be out of adjustment? Easy to check that to ensure it's working.

There is no adjustments on the clutch switch
And it has to work or no start at all.
