Michelin Commander II's on my 2010 R3T

"Turn In Is much faster and trail braking has to be relearned, Controlled overbraking
was a bit of a problem on my first few corners but not anymore.
First few fast sweepers had me at corner entry a lot slower than I wanted but the up side
was getting back on the throttle could happen sooner and harder...
The turn In Is so much more precise, as long as I remember to rotate the bike down
on It's side walls with less bar pressure I feel a lot safer.."

Touring rim width vs standard/roadster


I haven't been able to find out what the diff is between rear rim widths (if any). I don't see any reason a 240 can't be used on a Touring,,,,,there is plenty of swingarm and fender clearance. I never understood the reason for the smaller tire on the touring....perhaps because it is de-tuned from the factory???? My bike had the METZ replaced at 7k,,,,but I didn't put most of the miles on and I have the feeling that it was rode hard and put away wet for the first 4k miles (judging by the skimpy center and the generous side tread) I agree that how you ride and how you maintain have as much (or more) to do with tire life as the manufacturer of the tire. One of my buds has a fat ass wife (260+) and if he ran his street glide at tire spec he only gets 6-7k and thats without abusing the bike. He HAS to run it at 40-42psi to get any life out of it. He's happy when he sees 10k!!!
 

The R3T uses a 5" rear rim, the R3 Classic (not sure of Roadster) uses a 7.5" rim.

I beg to differ I have almost as much torque in one of my cylinders then you have in all three. So much when a I dump the throttle the MC tire flattens out like a car tire. But hey if you want to believe the car tire is better then by all means go for it. I am always in the fast lane anyway. To define torque let see you beast blow up a the eddie current brake on a dyno like I did with the Millenium Falcon with a little Avon cobra

D I think you will find the problem is th ewidth of the swing frame is just not enough. plus the R3T uses a 90 degreee bevel box the standard don't because the swing frame angles out more. But you can cut the back of the standar frame off and add it to the Touring everything forward is the same right under the seat is where the frame changes width.
