Maiden voyage

Ok guys, I took my new triumph on it's maiden voyage today for about 10 miles. Seemed to notice a lot of vibration to me in fifth gear is that normal? Also I was right in knowing that those pipes have to go. I was going brain dead looking at pipes and prices. I was wondering do I have to do an ECU mod or should i just buy a power commander, more help needed. thanks

If you change the pipes you'll need to do the ECU mod to ensure the fueling is correct. The PC is always a good idea even if you don't change the exhaust. I have one I am putting on shortly, just waiting on my new Viking set up to arrive.

I don't think you should have vibrations in 5th gear and only ten miles on your maiden voyage your about 90 miles short of a good first ride. I hope you weren't using 5th gear in town only need to put in 5th once 4th gear has hit the limiter.

I agree with @phar2slo . I never use 5th gear below 45mph. The R3 doesn't like really low rpms.

As a general rule of thumb, always keep operating rpm above 2000.
