Looks wrong

Fair enough if you've changed your mind on it but calling someone a sucker because they are buying one is laughable. I know who'll be calling out "sucker" when you come across one of these while you're riding your pretty new Yammy....
what's your opinion on the new Katana, would you buy one ?

Just read a couple of lenghty reviews on the new Katana, and they were not given the best marks. The Triumph Speed Tripel, Yamaha MT-10 and Kawasaki Z900 were all deemed better overall. Shame, the original Katana was always one of my dreams as a lad!!

That's a very observant question Nat lol. No, I would not buy one. The original Katana ('80-84) was radically different and held the title of world's fastest world's production bike. They made their mark. Unfortunately the name has been used (sullied lol) for subsequent models. Whilst I wouldn't buy one I have no doubt whatsoever that the latest Katana would leave any of mine for dead in anything but a straight line (and that's only the 1170 Kat). I'm sure those who buy the latest incarnation will find it a good bike for what it is, it's not meant to be groundbreaking. For what it's worth they did make some brand new 'old' Katanas in the early nineties and I would LOVE one of those. I would like an old Honda 4 as well but all those old girls are just to expensive now....

Seriously? Maybe if it had a beer holder you would like it better.

I here you there bro , I had the pleasure of owning a yoshi 1340 Kat in the early ninetys , An awesome bike even compared to the new gsxrs and the zzrs of the day ! I even had the se model with the flip headlight , which was just about the best part of the underpowered peice crap , even the anti dive forks weren't a patch on the originals , just seemed to wear out front tyres quicker on that terrible 16 inch front wheel . But when I saw the pics of the new one I was intrigued ! But on seeing one in the flesh I was proper disappointed . The style of the original was light years ahead of its time , and what subtle improvements Suzuki have made to the bodywork and fairing just detract from the nostalgia of the original ! The bars look cheap and nasty , as does the frame with the pegs back and high ! got to admit tho , the engine is a peach , but the whole bike far smaller than the original !

A 1340? Very nice! I bet you wish you still had it I reckon 80s and 90s was a great era for bikes, those early gixxers were animals. I had the same thoughts as you and probably a million others on the new Katana the bars are horrible, the whole thing looks like they've tried to wrap Katana bodywork around an adventure tourer...

You hit the nail square on the head there ! And yes , one bike I allways regretted selling . Oh the power of hindsight ! I traded it for a new ZZR 1100 which I loved , but you can still pick them up for 2 a penny , unlike the original Kats which you rarely now see !

My T120 is a small bike, relative to a Rocket. These are not small bikes.

They’re just missing a proper seat and rear fender.

I was surprised at the power. They could’ve gotten over 200 hp at the rear wheel. My ‘07 Classic was dynoed at 152 hp/162 ft.

I could go for a 650 lb Rocket. If I had $20k+ to throw away.

It might be the larger gas tank on the older Rockets. The 2020's tanks are smaller and does give the illusion that the bike is 'slimmer'. Personally I like the stocky look and stance the older Rockets have. They have a mean, nasty, bad to the frame look. Some haters would even call it 'ugly'. What do they know.
