I'm getting ready to install a safety tail light for the Rock and I'm told the most difficultpart will be locating the VSS.

Does anyone know what the VSS is and how to find it?

Karl

PS... I haven't been here for quite a while. Busy busy busy....

Vehicle Speed Sensor.

I think Triumph calls it a Road Speed Sensor.

page 11.115 in the manual.

It's ind of a suprise. So for now this is what I'll say...
I have a motorcycle related blog site (www.twistthegrip.com) and am also a member of a handful of discussion groups (motorcycle related). I was approached by a guy who is developing a tail light that works like a brake light with one big difference. Most motorcyclists don't use their breaks to slow down. Instead we downshift. The problem is engine braking doesn't engave your brake light. So this one uses an accelorometer and also plugs into the VSS thingie so that it will detece deceleration whether the brakes are used or not, and in doing so it will strobe the tail light.

He approached me to (a) test the unit and (b) write an article on it. So I accepted and have just received it. Of course now I actually have to install it now.

Anyway... that's all I can say for now. Once everything is said and done and I have the article written and posted, I'll gladly put a link to it here.

Hmm, that's a good idea. I hope it has a good buffer before it activates though as it could be strobing constantly the way I've seen some people ride like they are yo-yos.

Thanks, mate. Sounds like good gear. I like strobing brake lights, keeps drivers on the ball when following you in traffic. They ain't real sure what it's all about, but they SEE 'em!

I've put Hyperlites on the back, set to flash for five seconds then go "solid." They're VERY bright.

If I'm windy about following vehicles (or just wanna show off) I just feather the brakes to trigger 'em.

Hope we'll see more of you again now?
