The dealership i use has folded and i'm about due for a new set of tires. I'm going to change them myself this time. I'll take them off put them on and have them balanced. My question to those who in the know, what brand of spline grease do you all use. I found this KRYTOX grease on line claiming it's the top of the line or should i stick with the Mobil grease HP222.. Appreciate any advice..

Greases | Industrial Lubrication | DuPont? Krytox®

Spline Lube Grease Observations - ADVrider As usual everyone's opinion differs in most forums. ;)

Spline lube

Krytox is an excellent grease and will never dry out. I think it is critical to hav e the moly in your spline grease. I'd save the Krytox for your fishing reel gears.

agreed...the grease is good for a lot of applications, but the splines need moly paste. The Honda 60 is good (that's what I use since I have two Hondas with shaft drive) but a product called Guard Dog also gets good reviews. Some even mix a Belray waterproof grease with the moly paste, but I'm a believer that straight moly paste on the final drive splines is all that you need.

paste (73% moly for splines)

Guard Dog Moly Lubricants - GD-570 Moly Paste

grease (30% moly too low for the splines but great on everything else...see list in attached link)

Guard Dog Moly Lubricants - GD-525 Moly Grease (Synthetic)

by final drive spline am I to understand where the wheel meet the gear or where the drive shaft meet the final gearing ???

The drive splines requiring moly paste that I'm refering to are on the wheel's driven flange and the accompanying splines in the bevel box. The Honda service manual calls for Molykote G-n, Honda Moly 60, Rocol ASP (UK product), or Rocol Paste mfg by Sumico Lubricant, Japan.

The drive shaft and pinion cup (also called pinion joint) need moly grease...NLGI# 2 or equivalent with >3% moly. The Honda manual specifies Molykote BR-2 plus or Multi-purpose M-2 (Mitsubishi Oil, Japan).

The guard dog products meet these requirements and come highly recommended on the Valkyrie forums.

That's what I use on my Valkyrie per the Honda service manual. Honda also recommends a quantity of each type in the specific locations. I would think this quantity would also be sufficient for the Rocket drive shaft and bevel box points. I can look them up and add these quantities if anyone feels they might be helpful...

I'll second the Honda moly 60 grease.
For what it's worth I am on my 3rd tire and no visible signs of wear and I never baby the Rocket.
