Triumph rocket 3 roadster 2011
Just about to trade in my trusty BMW R1200 GS for a 2011 rocket 3 roadster. More excited than a kid at Christmas! Get it on Monday coz work prevents me from getting it any earlier despite it being ready to collect Is it Monday yet?

A new era for an old bloke who doesn't know when to give up biking

I'm from the UK, I've already ridden it, albeit only around Birmingham (UK) Had to test it as I was a little concerned that it might be too big for me.
After two or three laps of the Triumph Birmingham Car Park my confidence grew so I took it out onto the roads and took in the beautiful scenery (not really. Round there is a bit of a dump) but I got the feel for it there and then apart from the footrest position which took a bit of getting used to.
I took it back to the dealership and let the Salesman work his magic. To be fair the trade in price wasn't bad for a nearly 10 yr old bike so I went away to think about everything and to check out the insurance costs then phoned Triumph Birmingham to put down a deposit. Job Done
I'm now looking ahead to a trip to the south coast (West Sussex) to visit my 'baby' sister to check out it's long distance credentials. Hopefully no achy shoulders like on the Beemer after 100 miles. Sister lives nearly 200 miles away. Wish me luck.

P.S. Will update my profile once I've got to grips with this forum.
 
Welcome aboard. 200 miles is reasonable workout but your Rocket will eat it up. One thing to consider if you do find your shoulders ache is a riders back rest. Makes longer trips (and short ones) a breeze.
 
WELCOME! A word of caution with the "old bloke" description. My R3R was a 60th B-day present -- 3 years ago. And, yes, it just keeps on giving. I do not think there is EVER a time where taking it out does not make me feel spectacular. Probably my 20th bike, but may be my last if these "old" bones can keep her up (ok guys, no Viagra comments". Heading from Maine to California this summer with my wife on the back. And with my little 10lb dog who loves it as much as I do. Enjoy!
 
Ha Ha, Funnily enough, will be 60 myself later this year. growing old disgracefully
Sadly, (Happily perhaps?) My wife won't go anywhere near any bike. Yay
