I've noticed this before but couldn't get a good picture. Was putting on a new back tire today and took this pic. The electrical connection for the brake lights and signals, I assume, seems to be on the wrong side of the splash guard. Is this right?

pretty sure its not right, i have never seen that out.

Is that the stock guard? It should be in a protective pocket, shielded, if it is. I bought an aftermarket guard and found that it lacked the protective shield entirely, so I tossed it and went back to stock. Having the connector constantly bathed in a spray of water and dirt is a recipe for failure.

Yes, its the stock guard. So I couldn't stand it and removed the back wheel again and turned it around to the other side and yes there is a protected pocket it sets in. I'll probably add a dab of silicone for more protection.
