Insurance

When I spent some serious coin on the paint job I contacted ICBC about adding a ‘rider’ to my insurance. They told me to get the bike appraised, even gave me names of a couple of appraisers. The appraiser told me the paint job was impressive and very valuable...............to no one but me! He said ICBC or a secondary provider would not be able to accurately assess the cost of a repair (regardless of my receipts) so to forget about it! So I did!

So lets see some pictures?
Yes this is what I'm thinking it took me years to fine some one to do this work went through two people that said they could do it and couldn't, lost some money.
So I'm thinking because not every one can do this kind of work that the insurance will not waist there time searching for one that can and the expense to get it done fast.
I cant imagine how much it will cost, my guy is retired and he only took my job on that he will only work on it when he wanted too and its been almost a year and says he has not charged me for a lot of time, so I lucked out for some one that has the talent and doing my bike. Not sure if it would be worth paying for more insurance and then something happens they can't replace it and get some one to fix it.
or perhaps I can pay more and they just pay me out for x amount, sure may not be as much as the cost to fix but more then what a 05 is worth. Perhaps I'll talk to my insurance and see what they say.

very nice paint job, very well done, do you have Nev Cams and pistons? love your pull dog as well and nice neat shop garage put me to shame hum and your insurance wouldn't insure it for more, knowing your paint job is more then stock there for cost more to get it redone if something happens, and they wouldn't. I might have the same problem.

The appraiser I dealt with has been doing that for 20 years so I trusted his advice. My next BIG project on the bike will be an engine/performance upgrade but I’m not in a hurry. Being retired allows me to tinker away as I please and building the shop over the last 2 years has been an awesome project. Tomorrow I drive to Langley,BC to bring home a 2016 Ural Gear Up sidecar rig (2200km - like new). My lady had a stroke and can’t throw her leg over a motorcycle anymore so we’re going to try to continue riding side by side!

oh my god sorry to here this, that is great getting a side car for her, would love to see it.
Will you attach it on your Gold Wing? or your Rocket? that would be great when its all done if you post a picture here But it would be really cool side car on the Rocket with matching paint job
Yes I've been debating on doing engine upgrade as well but need to see how much she will cost me when metal work is all done and paint job then I'll decide if I want to put any more money in her.

The Ural was built at the factory in Russia as a sidecar unit and the nice guy I’m buying it from has babied it since he bought it new. My lady wants to ride Alaska (it’s always been on her bucket list) and this it the only way possible to achieve that because I can help her into and out of the sidecar. I’ve NEVER ridden or sat in a sidecar unit so I plan to practice around town here QUITE a bit before any big excursions.

that sounds like a nice adventure, so will you put side car on Triumph? or your Gold Wing? I'm going to look it up to see if I can find picture

If you Google 2016 Ural Gear Up Sahara (but not the special edition) you’ll see the rig. It’s a really cool desert sand colour. I contemplated looking for a sidecar to attach to my Triumph Explorer (that has been to Alaska 3 times and South America once) and then said Why not just buy another toy that was designed as a sidecar unit? It comes home Tuesday and then the ‘fun’ will begin.

very cool does yours have that cool spare gas tank at side just in case you run out of gas?LOL nice put pictures up when you get her all done.
