Instruments Dead.....Bike runs fine...What gives?

I don't know if it's any help but I have an 06 R3C and I have carried out several cable mods to make things better. One of the problems I found was where the guage loom passes from the bars to the frame, as the bars are turned the loom doubles itself up by bending in one place on the loom. I was thinking if your one was the same perhaps a wire has broken inside the loom at the point where the loom bends in two.
I have cured mine by disconnecting the connector at the main loom and running it round the headstock to the other side of the frame and reconnecting with the main loom, there is just enough cable to do it confidently.
Just a thought.

Was there ver a resolution to this Problem.....same thing just happened to my rocket. Thanks Dave

Ok thanks....just wondering if it was definitely the gauges or not? Sounds like it was, but no clear cut answer. Thanks

Hey there. Recently picked up a similar problem on my '05. Turn on ignition, gauges light up, yet no sweep and no warning lights, etc. light up. Start the bike, then the taco sweeps and warning lights, etc. come on. Loses trip meter memory every time ignition is switched off. Speedometer remains asleep when riding. Took to the dealer yesterday. ran the Tuneboy on it and comes back with a speedometer return error. Am told that it is something gone in the speedometer. as another R3 owner has same problem, yet, when plugging in a different speedo, all is fine. so currently ride on the Tacho to gauge speed. grin

BikerBilly, I am wondering if you have had your issue fixed. I have the exact same symptoms. I am wondering if replacing the speedo will fix the warning lights on the tach. Mine do not light up until after the bike is started, then they work fine.

This is a very old thread that I just happened to be viewing. What was the resolution to the problem? It just seems so improbale that both would fail at the same time.
