Im installing a set of Jardines for the first time tomorrow - except I dont have any instructions on how to. Do the Jardines use the hangers which the stock pipes use (and which my towbar is secured to) or do they fit to the rear foot pegs.

Any help appreciated.

You need to remove the standard exhaust hanger when you fit Jardines. The Jardines fit to the inside of the rear foot peg hanger. You can download a .PDF file from the jardines website for the installation instructions but you definitely need the sticky'd advice on this forum and the manual for the header torques - 19nm from memory.

One thing I noticed on my 2008 classic is that when you remove the standard exhaust hanger, you loose the two location pin holes that take the torque from the foot peg. This is more of a problem if you have rivco relocation arms as I have. I drilled new holes in the foot peg hanger - which in the aft position is tricky and not pretty, but you can't see it when reassembled.

cheers guys - the jardines fit together perfectly when loose - will see if the same happens when fitted together. i will get some of that high temp gunk to fit on the seals just in case.

my main concern was around the stock exhaust hangers. i have a towbar on my 2nd rocket (a 2up machine used for distance/touring and occasional camping) and its bottom arms bolt to the stock exhaust hangers. since you all say that the stock hangers have to go then i need to get some additional brackets made up to provide the connection for the tow bar .... or dump the tow bar.

thanks for the heads up on the rivco passenger footboard and relocation arms - both of which I have. I will have drill to holes through the jardine hanger bracket in order for the notches to notch.

i think the effort will be worth it for the jardines sound and look.

ps. these Jardines are all black (including the end cans) and have no baffles

You can't drill through the jardines hangar - it mounts to the inside of the bike's foot peg hanger.

I have a set of instructions for installation of Jardine's on the standard model R3, but don't know how to post them to the list. Please advise if you need them.

I also have a PDF of this document, which I can E-mail if necessary!
