Installed TORS today

If it starts and idles ok with the 20226 tune, the tps sensor and idle stepper motor must be ok, no? The big difference between the 20050 final map tunes and 20226 is that 20226 has the secondaries closed. You lose about 12 ft lbs at peak torque. You could just try opening the secondaries 100% in 20226. IMHO, it runs better at idle and low tp with the o2 sensor working. However, you'll get some popping on decel.

It wouldn't start normally with either map. It seems the trick was to ensure everything was lubed up, then run the tests to move all the bits, start, then reset adaption whilst running at 103C, let it idle for 8-10 minutes (not 12, I wanted to see if it was any different), then go out for some adaption under load.

I might try the 20050 map again, I just wanted to clear the idle issue from a baseline of the 20226 first. I have found the references to the "WD40" fix here: http://www.r3owners.net/threads/no-idle.21955/

I guess it is prudent to start with the cheapest easiest things first!

re: popping, is that the same as "backfire with a 12 gauge quality to it" or a "sexy burble, crackle, lady-fart" sound?

ps. I also have a theory that the linkages got dry from a detailing I did using S100 in and around that area. I wonder if this issue has that characteristic, i.e after washing with strong cleaning/degreasing agents? just a thought...

Popping on decel can be quite explosive but it's just unburned fuel igniting in the exhaust manifold or pipes. Backfiring is when combustion is occuring and the intake valve is open and flames and crap shoots out of the throttle bodies.

Yeah, I am getting a bit confused with "After-fire" I suppose. I had a look at Wikipedia, if anyone is interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back-fire

When I was a kid in the late 60s we used to drive big petrol V8 powered International loadstar trucks and if you where decelerating using compression braking the things used to after fire through the 4inch exhaust like a 12 gauge shot gun repeatedly, great fun going through a town at night you could see a three foot flame out the side of the truck ,getting Diesel trucks spoiled all our fun

Big Ditto to that statement - I did the same ...cat delete and TORS - she sounds how a Trumpy should sound breathes better and the sound is like a Spitfire or a Messerschmitt - YUMMMMMY when you open her up.
You can poodle past the PLOD nicely, without even being looked at, but when you open her up - the sound is sweet.

Original looks and Good Sound - well done.

Gotta say watching this makes me want to run out and buy some D&D pipes, stat. Those of you with TORS, how do they sound compared to the D&D, can you estimate between the difference in the video below? Somewhere in between perhaps?
