Go up four posts for How to Remove Ignition Switch. In mine the red wire was broken about 1" above the solder joint- not sure how that happens, but could explain what's going on with yours....

I replaced my ignition with the Guard Dawg keyless plug and play unit a few days ago. I went to their Web site and messaged them with questions and they steered me to the correct model with exactly the right connectors for my 2006 Classic. I had trouble figuring out which connector was for the kill switch and they sent me several photos of it. That connector was completely buried underneath the rat’s nest of other wires piled on top of the engine. Without their photos showing me what to look for I never would have figured it out. Anyway, their keyless gizmo works great.
