When I first got my R3T I too really missed not having a tach. I purchased a Scangauge and used one of the settings for RPMs. The Scangauge refreshes pretty slowly so you can use the gauge for steady cruising, but for acceleration it does not keep up.

After a bit more than a year, I rarely use the RPM feature and find that I don't miss the tach. Unless you have money to burn I'd suggest you wait a bit and see if you still feel the need.

WOW!

All this talk about tach's got me thinking...I can't remember the last time I actually used one even if the car, truck or bike had it.

I'm an over the road trucker by trade and I'm currently pushing a Volvo Tractor with ten speeds and I still never use the tach.

To me shift points are as much instinctual as they are mechanical. And I guess after a wile you just know where the sweet spot (perfect shift point)is on your machine, that's when the Tach become obsolete to your brain.

But until then by all means get your sefl a good tach, its much cheeper in the long run then a trip to the service Dept.
