How can I tell if my ECU is tuned?

Hi all,

I just bought a 2007 R3 Classic and it has an exhaust upgrade and CAT removed. Is there a way I can tell if the ECU has been programmed for these changes? I bought it at a used dealer so I don't know the original owner. I'm in the Nashville area.

Thanks,
Nathan

Yes there is.......you can use a program called TuneEcu or Tuneboy. TuneEcu is free (except for the $20 cable to buy) and frequently updated and lots of owners have it. Tuneboy costs and alot of owners have this as well. Both are equally good programs.

Basically you install on laptop and use a cable to connect to the ODBII plug under your seat. From there you can view, edit and change you bikes tune.

Im sure more will follow with a reply.

I would guess that you have an upgraded tune based on the modifications done to the bike. If you didnt the bike would not run well and gas mileage would suffer among other issues.

Judging by the air filter set up in your other post I am guessing the former owner must have had to do somethine in the ECU or fitted a Dobeck or a Power Commander or your bike ( as mentioned by Kmutt) would be running very Lean and as previously stated rough as guts have a look under the seat or the side covers for one of the forementioned fuel management modules they a relatively small and basically fool the ECU into providing more fuel I am guessing it will be a PCIII or the Dobeck hidden in there somewhere

Thanks all. It does seem like it is getting enough fuel as it will pop when I let off the throttle so I'll assume it is "tuned". Also have the Jardine exhaust.

The previous owner. Removed the rad shroud so I need to figure that out as I don't want a rock to punch a hole in it.

I'll remove the side panels and see if there is a tuner under there. I do see some aftermarket filters under the tank. Smaller ones. Crankcase or pcv valve I assume.

The bike is crazy fast though. My other bike is a 2002 boss hoss with the 350 though. Different type of ride but both fast.
