Hoping to be a Rocket 3 R owner in the near future!

You sound like the perfect R3R rider to me.
You'll do better than 2 months on good tires - NOT the OEM Metzelers!
 
I just looked up some options. Avon Cobras have a 15k mile warranty at a decent price from motorcyclesuperstore.com . It may take a while to find the right deal on a Rocket but it looks like the way i will be heading.

I will be trolling this board to learn more before I buy, thanks for all the input!
 
Many of use run Avons, they are really nice tires, most consider them better than the Metz 880s, both in grip and mileage, though there are a few nay sayers.

Avons should outlast the 880s, but don't expect to actually get 15,000 miles lol.

Oh I won't expect 15k but I will take advantage of the warranty of needed. I had Michelin pay for half of two sets of tires for my Tundra. They were rated for 55k and the most I got was 30k out of them. 305/50/20's weren't cheap, lol.
 
Welcome Trae, from Maine, tires, smires, it's the cost of having a great ride, I always buy the best tires for my bikes, it's the ONLY thing between you and the road, traction baby!!

Welcome from Alabama. I just put new tires on my R3 Classic that I recently purchased. If you scan through the threads on tires and front and rear configs you will find tons of great advice. Claviger and EasTex recommended a nice setup and I really love the handling. My bike handles like a dream now. The longevity should be good depending on my riding style and right hand twist!
