Triumph Thunderbird Nightstorm 2015
Hi,

I have joined the forum to help me make up my mind on my next bike. I am looking at either a Thunderbird Storm or a Rocket 3 GT.
The Rockets in my price range are fairly high mileage, around 20000 miles and I am wondering what big services could I be liable for f they havent been done, such as valve checks etc. Any advice on things to look out for would be appreciated.
 
Hello and welcome. Good luck on your decision. I almost bought used and ended up going with new to avoid the uncertainty.
 
If the owner performed the preventive maintenace (or their dealer) the Rocket is a great choice. The motor is good for a couple hundred thousand miles. IDK had an original Rocket III (2300cc motor) with 230K miles on it.

tribal jim had one with 230,000 miles also.
 
Thunderbird storm is a great bike but does not have the presence of the rocket. Back tires on the rockets are pricey. If possible ride each one, price it out, or just see which one you feel the most for. Probably find a used storm at a good price, not so much a rocket except the older ones. If you dont need a 3gt the rockets from 2005 and up are great also. I have a touring and enjoy it quite a bit.
