probably missed the answer somewhere but all tuneecu tunes come with ,hex extension and window does not want to open any of them I have tried various software programs to no avail and when i also try to import the window gizmo to translate these tunes still no joy
anybody!!!!! knows how to make those .hex files work so I can download the RIGHT tune for my R3

Do you have the TuneECU software downloaded? That is what you need to open the .hex files. You have to open TuneECU and then open the .hex file you want.

Can I ask?
Are you using the TuneECU software to open the #####.hex map file or are you asking Windows to open the file ?

Maybe..
If you are asking Windows to open the .hex file then you would need a software platform to read hexdecimal data and an understanding of the raw data you are veiwing.

If your using TuneECU there is a new recent version out for download.
Have you tried deleting histories and cookies from your PC to free up memory ?

I do have I believe the tuneecu software called tune ecu 182 but it will not open anything

If you have windows 7 and cable, download the latest TuneECU from their site and windows 7 will configure it to work by loading a suitable driver and set up the com port, you don't do anything.

If you have earlier windows like XP the you have to install a TuneECU driver to make it compatable by finding the com port for USB connection.. I have not done this as I use Win7..

TuneECU works great with Win7 so if this is what you are using I suggest you delete the standing copy and reload the latest version, unzip and run the installer then let win7 configure it..

On their site go to down loads/maps and find your model and setup then download the maps you think are suitable.

Update August-21-2012, TuneECU 2.3.4 now Released

Hope this helps

Well done there Dennis and you call me an expert

Thanks to you all who showed me the way ....I tried but!!!!

what I ended up doing was to return to my old laptop (windowXP) the one stored in the basement under empty suitcases and used it to load the 20145 tune from wayne tripp loaded with no problems .
I will refresh the tune on the bike from that old computer as the 20145 is supposed to be designed for Jar+2780 pods and decel pop will see if the popping diminish..
