i have a '10 roadster too and am on my 3rd GPS.
my problem was it became harder & harder to get the N light on so i couldnt put it on the side stand while running to open the gate or it would cut out. tried all the cleaning etc but no joy so i replaced the factory one at 6k miles
then at 10k it indicated wrong gear number while riding (plus engine light), and when i shifted down to 1st then it stuck on either 1 or N.
but that corrected once i switched it off and on again, but the engine check light remained so i connected up and found the P0705 Gear position sensor circuit malfunction, cleared that and alls good again.
same thing happened again at 14k.
then at 16k the old N became hard to get up, very quickly became impossible so once again i replaced the sensor.
looks like im doomed to buy a new sensor every year /-: and im at 20k now
