I thought that the Joe Rocket logos and the color of this lid would go great with my Mulberry (Red) Mistress, but would like to get some feedback on fit, quality and ventilation properties before I make a purchase decision.:

Joe Rocket Colored Carbon Fiber Motorcycle Helmet - Tobefast

My research told me that Joe Rocket stole this helmet's designer away from HJC.

Other than the logo, it's the same helmet as the HJC Carbon - HJC makes it for Joe Rocket, so if you can find the HJC the fit will be identical, size for size.

It is a good looking helmet, but like Pig9r I am a modular helmet type guy. If they every decide to modulize (how's that for a word?) it and have one of those slide down sun visors built in...I'd definitely be interested.

There are lots of good looking and quieter helmets that I'd rather wear, but I'm so addicted to flip-ups that I'll never go without being able to drink/smoke/wear sunglasses/talk with a flip of the face cover. I always wore a full face helmet growing up (even on my minibike), it was like my signature ... they always knew who was coming from what was on my head. But one day some old man let me use his Nolan and that was it, I was hooked. I just wish they were quieter, I've tried three different models and currently have a new HJC, it's the best so far, but still noisy. I hear the Bells might have less wind noise, but who can afford one?!
Of course whatever you get ... IT MUST MATCH YOUR BIKE !!!!! :p

The Bell Star series is an absolutely awesome helmet. Believe it or not I think that it is superior to my Arai, due to the better ventilation. Basically, since i will only wear a fullface lid, the Arai is my cold weather choice and the Bell is what I'll wear in 70 degree weather and higher.

Although I have always been intrigued with the flip-up, modulars, Nolan and Scheuberth being the best, IMO, I would not choose to wear one until they are shown to have structural integrity at least equal to a good quality fullface. My head is too valuable for me to risk inordinately and I've seen what happens to the modulars in bad impacts... they ain't good enough (however, they are better than many other styles)!

I have been fortunate to survive two accidents over the last 3 1/2 years where in each instance my bike was totalled and my head took a very substantial shot. In each case, one with an Arai and the other in a Bell, I not only didn't suffer any head injuries, my head didn't have a single mark nor did I suffer as much as a headache.

BTW, the Bell Star series can be had at exceptionally good prices here:

110 in stock at discount prices, including the Bell Moto-8 Manic Helmet , Moto-8 Nick Wey Replica Helmet - 2009, Moto-8 Nitro Helmet - Orange, Moto-8 Nitro Helmet - Red, Moto-8 Tattered Helmet, SC-X Matte Black Helmet - Size XS, SM, XL or 2XL, SC-X P

I have been wearing a modular helmet for about 6 years. I smoke and I can have a cig while riding down the road with the flip-up and still keep my head intact. Good in the summer when stuck at a light also.

I tried on the HJC equivalent at the bike show in NYC last weekend. Their rep told me that the Joe Rocket version is slightly more oval shaped than HJC's. The HJC helmet fit me quite well in a size small. My Arais have all been mediums and fit me perfectly, so I would say that these helmets run close to one full size larger than true. Since I started this thread, I've found the J Rocket RKT 101 Carbon Transtone online for $230. It's a good buy (MSRP is $450) at that price and the red one is a very good match for my Mulberry Red mistress.

Phil,

Owl on the .com has a Joe Rocket CF, ask him.

Hellfire,

The quitest by far is the Schuberth C3 mate. The only one I would wear.
