I'm a little embarrassed to ask this, but is the 2022 GT seat leather or vinyl. I'm pretty confident it's Vinyl, but being a "premium" bike, I
have to ask before coating it with chemicals.
Thanks

I am going with 100% vinyl. Not that I know, but I 100% expect it to be. Plus, I had so many leather jackets, I think I'd be able to tell.

There's a section in the manual titled "Leather Products Care", and I can't think of anything else, accessory or otherwise, that is leather? But then, it also has a section on "Seat Care" that just says: "Do not use chemicals or high pressure spray washers to clean the seat. Using chemicals or high pressure spray washers may damage the seat cover. To help maintain its appearance, clean the seat using a sponge or cleaning cloth with soap and water."

EDIT: That was from the newer Storm owners manual (I just opened the newest one in my Rocket archives). The older manual (and my printed one also) have a section called "Leather Seat Care", so maybe the removal of the section means the newer bikes get "pleather"? *shrugs*

Section says:

It is leather and for your information my GT has 90,000 miles on it and the seat looks new. I have never done anything to it other than mild soap and water for cleaning once in a great while,

Press your finger into the surface of the seat. It deforms and stretches easily and returns back to it's original shape.
Leather doesn't stretch like that.
It's three-way stretch vinyl.
.......see?

There's pretend leather - reconstituted leather veneer on a vinyl backing - and there's real tanned leather. Both can be marketed as "leather". I have a two piece suite made from the former and it's crap.

Thanks Jagster.... Appreciate your sacrifice in proving your point. How and why is your seat cut in half!

I took that photo when I was down at the Triumph Visitor Centre (Hinkley, UK) .

I had to get out of there fast when they found out i'd cut one of their seats in half...lol...

(They have a sectioned up bike on display).

OK.....It's definitive....vinyl. That means I won't be spending money on expensive leather products such a saddle soaps and conditioners. I'll stick with chemicals
such as Armorall and soap/water. Don't mean to start a discussion on vinyl cleaners ;-(
