Got a Gremlin

Update : Sorted Gremlin
I changed plugs & leads & went for a ride...runs mint now. Plugs that I had in there were brand new & after inspecting them visually they seemed fine...BUT... the gap was not had them about 0.8 or bit less, got no idea why I had them at that, but I did check the other ones to 0.9 before I put them in. Must of had a blonde day with the other ones, I immediately told myself off & band myself from drinking
ps...haven't drunk for over 5 years

I don't think the difference between .8 and .9 mm would cause a stumble (but I've been known to be wrong). That's the difference between 31 and 35 thou which the Haynes manual states is the setting for the Rocket. I bet you had a plug wire failing. Did you have any moisture in the area where the plug wire boots go into the head? Water can trap in the plug wire hole in the head if the drain ports are plugged (water should not be able to get between the spark plug wire boot and head but it's happed to me). Curious, was there any rust on the plug's exterior?

Anyway, obviously the problem was on the high volt side of things. Glad you got it sorted and passed on the fix to "the gang".

edit
metric is a prob for me .0354

Everything looked spik & span to me. Since I've had the bike running it's never been in the rain.
Can only assume it was the spark plug gap but could of been bad plug which I've experienced in years gone by
Just happy its running great now & cheers for the comment.
