just got home from work , right side of the engine was covered in oil . Culprit seems to be the gasket on the cover that covers the cams and valves , big piece of it poking out in line with the front cyl.
Bike is only 10 months old with 37000 klms on it, ill bite the bullet and have a big service done hopefully that gasket will be covered under warranty, I'm guessing they will be doing the valves anyway ?
What's got me worried is why it would just pop out like that , seen it on cars before from blow by where a cylinder leaks compression and pressurises the engine block etc , anyone else had this happen to them on such low mileage ?

Geez, That's a bugger.
Should be covered under warranty - Unless they find a reason not to.....
It is odd how it just started to leak - looks like the gasket has moved.

Don't get too worried about it. Sure it makes a mess but you won't loose too much oil. Mine did exactly the same thing at about 40,000km; had it fixed under warranty although the dealer did try to say the mods I'd done had contributed to it. Triumph Australia was OK with it though. The cam covers do have to come off as part of the major service and the gasket's pretty inexpensive, so worst case scenario isn't all that bad anyway.

In my case the cause was poor workmanship by the dealer when I had the head gasket done (under warranty). I reckon he'd just put the old one back in. And then, to make things worse, when he was told to replace it under warranty he merely stuck it back in with a heap of silicon. Of course it blew again, and that's when I worked out what he'd done - but that's another story.

My advice to you is firstly, insist on a new gasket (unlikely they wouldn't do that anyway but I never expected my dealer to do what he did). Secondly, inspect it carefully before you leave and make sure it's seating correctly with no bulges.
 
Wrecka I know it's out of the way but maybe consider taking it to Olivers Motorcycles at Moorooka. Their Triumph tech there has done a fair bit of work on all my Triumphs and I've never had a problem.
 
Exactly the same thing happened to Hunty's bike at 25k km's ... exactly the same spot as yours Wrecka ... fixed under warranty no questions asked ... Hunty was happy
 
Exactly the same happened to my Roadster when it was 10 months old. The dealer couldn't do the fix for a month and I just kept riding it as normal - just keep an eye on the oil level, but shouldn't drop much even though it covers everything and looks awful. Mine was covered under warranty, no issues.
 
Good thing about my job is i get plenty of time to research sheeit , doesnt seem to be that large a job ( espically seeing as i have ramair filter )so i'll chase the needed parts up today from Triumph and get into it on the weekend , i'll change the plugs while im there and do an oil change
