Hi all, just wanted to share where and how I mounted my garage door opener on my bike. Two zip ties. I just reach forward and press while approaching house. Not sure how this would work without windshield in rain, but works good for me so far. Oh, and I added a 3M hook hanger two faced foam tape strip under remote to better secure it.

In case you're interested, I installed a little after-market circuit that lets me flash my high beams twice to open my garage door. One of my favorite mods I've made to my bike so far!!

Very cool! Definitely a top way to go. On my list when I get the gumption.

I modified one of those cheap sonoff switches and now when I arrive home I just have to say "open sesame!" And it opens....

... ok ok.... "hey Google!" ... "open sesame!"

... and yes I know I suck at soldering connections...

Just two cuts with dremel and a bit of cable to join two points

I'm not worthy.

I use a device called tailwind iq3 - that connects to my garage door opener and I've set it up so that when my phone paired with my Bluetooth device (cardo packtalk, or my android auto screen) approaches my home, the garage door opens automatically. Works perfectly

Yikes! It's nice of you to employ meth addict racoons for your soldering projects though.

Seriously though, that's cool, I'd love a little more info on how that's implemented. I have a smart garage door that I can open with an app so I wonder if I already have that capability and just have to figure out the right hey google command. I've never really been successful about using the phone voice commands over my Cardo headset though (despite them saying they support the feature).

If you already have an smart controller, check if it is compatible with Alexa or Google. If so, from Alexa or Google you should have an option to add that device.
The solution I used , involves using an on/off smart switch that is supported by Google and Alexa and modify it to make it a momentarily switch so it can be connected to any garage motor. (Mine is like 20 years old).

SONOFF Basic R2 10A Smart WiFi Wireless Light Switch, Universal DIY Module for Smart Home Automation Solution, Works with Amazon Alexa & Google Home, Works with IFTTT, 1 Pack https://a.co/d/bCTF23j

Just ignore the $5 switch cost from 2018... today is like $12, who knows why, but no inflation because we don't have that (rolling eyes)
