I just returned from the Rocky Point Rally 2018, what an absolute hoot! Highly recommended! Anyway on the return trip on Mexican Highway 86 (some call it the Mexican Autobahn) running anywhere from 90 to 120 (just for a bit) I burned up over 3/4 of a tank of gas in 60 miles. Just a reminder that if you are going to stroll along at those speeds make sure the gas stations are not too far apart, lol. Having said that the poor gas milage was worth every penny.

I have run at continuous speed of 100 and over for up to 75 miles and noticed a drop in MPG to 26-28.
Nothing near what you are stating . . .

The issue is - That with a screen and bags you become about as aerodynamic as a brick wall. And every bike will have a barrier above which it has to REALLY work to push past that air. This may also depend on the map in the beast and the extras. ALOT of published tunes are over rich for HIGH SPEED CRUISING rpms. The laws of Physics apply. Just upping my cruising speed from 75-ish to 90-ish sees approx 20% increase in consumption. And remember double the speed means 4 times the resistance/work so expect dramatic consumption rises once you pass the barrier which will be unique for each bike.

And naturally - things like headwinds just add to the dilemma.

This part of why I moved to MAP based tuning and map 5th differently to the other gears.

At 100 miles I get somewhere between 4 and 5 gallons of fuel. At long stretches of 90 plus mph, I fuel at 75miles. AND THAT MAKES ME VERY HAPPY. This ol girl runs great....

I agree with others above. I also have a touring and above 80mph she starts gulping fuel like it’s going out of style!
Must be the windshield, bags and my fat ass taking its toll!
If I cared about gas mileage I would have bought a 500cc thumper!!
Enjoying the ride!
