I just went back through an old thread to confirm the allen size for the front axel. The thread I found says it is a 19mm. I thought it was an 18 and have been searching for one in my area without success. I can't find anything over a 17 so a 19mm will be even tougher. Just where does one get these. I've tried Sears, Auto Zone, NAPA special order etc. I'm trying to find a 1/2inch ratchet head allen.

I am presently in San Antonio and still can't find either size. Oh and which is it, 18 or 19? I don't have access to my owners manual. I need to get my front tire and brakes replaced prior to Maggie May.

Cheaper yet, use two allens, a 12mm and a 7mm butted up to it. The amount of leverage you need is surprisingly little since the axle is held in place by the pinch bolts. I do this when I change tires and it's a snap and doesn't require a mongo size allen key.

a 3/4 inch allen is only .001968504" or larger and it fits snug but fits. I also use and inverted socket with the 3/4 inch hex on on the outside of it on the top, because its a socket the 3/4 wrench is a little undersized and works great I hust stick the 1/2 extention in from the front and have know problems at all.

That's what I use.
A 12 MM nut.
Actually a 12 MM bolt with two 12MM nuts
double nutted works great and is a perfect fit.
Way cheaper than a "special" tool too.
of course Triumph does sell one for about $25.00
Dollar bolt and two 25 cent nuts work tho.
Hope this helps,

one too many zeros there.... 19mm = .74803 so it's really .00197 that said, .002 aint gonna' matter (an average human hair is around.003).

oops typo actually .748031496 but hey it was early in the morning and the coffee was not done :)
Either way its just under and the allen head is probably not exact anyway as my 3/4 works well I only use the allen to loosen and then the socket so I can obtain the proper torque requirements so as not to load the bearings to much. Either way a bolt like mentioned above would work for the torquing also.
I will correct my error.
