Poker Run - Greater Fredericksburg Habitat for Humanity
Hello Bikers and Habitat for Humanity Supporters:
We hope that you saved the date - April 27h, for Greater Fredericksburg Habitat for Humanity's 6th annual Ride VA 13 Poker Run.
The registration fee is still $25 for the rider and $20 for the playing passenger. Each pre-registered participant is guaranteed a poker hand, Ride T-shirt, Ride patch and/or bar, ticket for a meal at Quaker Steak & Lube, entry bag and door prize drawing ticket. People who register on Ride Day will receive these items as long as our supply lasts.
Ride Day will start at 9:00 am at Quaker Steak & Lube, 1300 Central Park Blvd., Fredericksburg, VA 22401, with the last bike in by 1:30 pm for the poker hand to be counted. About 2:00 pm we'll start giving away prizes. Last year we gave away over $5,000 in prizes. The prize for the best hand AND the worst hand is again $250 EACH. We will have the 50/50 raffle again - last year's winner won a pot of over $1,000 and this year's pot should be larger.
Our Ride Route will start at The Lube and head south to the stop near the Habitat build site in S.E Spotsylvania County. The actual stop will be at The Barn, at Fairview and Hwy 601 (Lewiston). You will get to meet the Habitat family of the next Habitat home we will be building and see some plans for the home. From there, the route will head north near Lake Anna and return to The Lube. You'll see some new country riding on the route this year. Also new this year will be group rides with trained road captains departing at various times in the morning. If you prefer, you can still ride by yourself or with a group of your friends.
Also new this year is building some walls for a Habitat home at The Lube. You can help build these walls and write some words of encouragement on the 2 x 4s. We will take these walls to our build site to help build the next Habitat home, so at The Lube you will participate in the building of a Habitat home. When we start the house construction in May, you can go to the build site and help finish the home.
We will have the NSWC FCU Cash Vault again this year at The Lube so you will have a chance to win some money if you grab the most cash in the Vault. NSWC matches the winner's amount and donates it to Habitat, so we want you to grab a large amount.
You can register online by going to our website at www.fredhab.org or you can still register at the event on the day of the Ride. This is a "rain or shine" event. However, if you don't like the weather you can draw and play your hand at The Lube. If you need a T-shirt size larger than 2X, you should pre-register online so we are able to order the T-shirt and have it for you on the day of the Ride.
