Forward Controls for R3

Hey Greyfox,
Could you give us some info on the brand of FC's that you have and why you chose those (ie. is there something special that makes them fit better ?). Also, I assume from the photos that they have an internal reservoir cause I cant see one. And finally what did the FC's cost you and from where ?

Damd and others,

Greyfox edited his first post with some additional info we may find useful.

This link is to Greyfox's FC pics:

Looks like his FCs are at the least a semi-custom job, so break out the grinders, welders and polishers.:)

Kudo's on the pics Greyfox.:bch:

Don't mind the questions cause I sometimes forget the details in the excitement of the moment. It is a custom job- not much out there when you go off the beaten path. I have never done this kind of thing before so go for it. The controls are from BIG DOG motorcycles but are sold only from dealers etc. That is why Ebay is great. Cost was $200!! I consider that a deal when you look at what else is out there. Any will work just use your imagination. I liked the angle of the -yes-internal reservoir because it was close to the angle of the chrome plate that hides the original master cylinder. Bought a custom line from HEL for $50 and hardware, pegs , etc. Have about $350 in them which includes a gift certificate to the owner for use of a welder, and sanders. It's like sitting in a chair with your feet slightly forward (tall one here). Didn't want the stretched look. If you have rested your legs on the pegs straight out and felt the pinch in the groin- it will convince you.

nice set of forward controls,
i designed and made a set for my chop from old engine parts,
con rods for leaver arms & bilit aluminium for the pegs etc.
see them on my website, link bellow:

Welcome Cosky,
You put together a very nice website and the chopped Honda 650 looks sweet. :bch:
I enjoyed the shameless plug at the bottom of your website. :) Is there a Triumph Rocket III chopper project in your future?

That's some nice work Cosky..... You are very talented.

I have a 1979 CB 650 story (I'm sure you all want to hear it... I don't care , you're gonna get to hear it anyway)

I bought it for next to nothing and it was really nice except for a ding in the gas tank. It looked like it was just popped in, no creases in the metal or even any cracks in the paint. The tank held fuel just fine but that dent always bothered me. A buddy stopped by one day and he was pretty sure it would pop right out if we shot a little compressed air into the tank. I fired up the air compressor, took the tank off of the bike, drained the gas, stuck the air gun (on the end of the air hose) down the fuel filler hole and held some rags around it.

I gave it a short blast of air, hardly anything, and the entire tank flattened out like a pancake. Instead of looking like a gas tank it now looked like a manhole cover. But the dent popped out.

The mistake I made during all of this was not drinking enough beers before I started...

So you see... Cosky is VERY talented :D
