My new R3T is my first motorcycle with tubeless tires so I want to be prepared to fix flats in the middle of nowhere. I've already ordered a good 12V air pump and sticky string patch kit. However, I've fixed enough flats with tubeless tires on other machines to know that if the tire is completely flat and the bead isn't sealed on the rim, no small compressor will push enough air to seal the bead. (Even my big shop compressor usually won't.) So how do you folks handle that problem? I've used ratcheting straps to compress tires to seal the bead on the rim and I've even seen a neat trick where a shot of starter fluid is shot into the tire and then lit and the sudden pressure seals the bead (but I haven't tried that). Perhaps a CO2 Capsule and adapter would do the trick?

Anyway, have any of you had to deal with that in the middle of nowhere and, if so, how did you handle it. I want to be completely prepared for that situation when on the road.

I'd better check the map for where AAA runs . . .

I thought we were in trouble one time when my daughter was following us from college on her 250 Nighthawk, and classic fuel valve left in the reserve position, ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere.

Took AAA a while to get there, but a guy did come, and we made it home.

Its always a worry being stranded ,I carry A good 12v compressor, tubless repair kit, compressed C/02 capsules ,a ratchet strap and a small set of tyre irons plus a mobile phone current NRMA card all fits in the Panniers of the touring, but once I had a valve stem split and had to call the NRMA(our national road service Association) I now carry a spare valve stem that I could install at any workshop,
"being prepared",a lot to be said for tubed tyres ,you could repair them on the side of the road but the disadvantages out way the few good parts.

Hi Ken

I have a kit like this tucked under my seat, its a hassle to push an R3 when the tires are up, nigh impossible with a flat...

X-tech emergency tyre repair kit (also replacement plugs and glue), Repair kits, motorcycle, tyres, parts, accessories, Auckland | Cycletreads Most bike shops will have them for sale.

Purchasing this has ensured that I will never actually get a flat now. Seems to work. I have not used my kit ever but friends have similar ones and swear by them, need lots of gas for R3 tyre so carry both spare bottles.

As Zone3 says if its leaking round the bead call AA as there's no way the tiny cylinders have the guts to push the bead back into place and seal it.

I have a StopnGo plug kit and pump, never had to use it yet. If using the CO2 cartridges make sure you have enough to fill the tire. It took 6 to get enough pressure in my buddys Goldwing to ride to a service station and fill up at a pump.

Over the years I have helped quite a few riders with flat tyres in remote locations , on the Truck I had limitless compressed air and a high delivery tyre inflater ,and if I had room and time to pull over I would, with 120PSI on tap and a good delivery rate most time the tyre would pop back onto the bead , much to the joy of the rider and a feel good moment for me:):)

I have the same kit and hope to not need it....;)

The Stop and Go kit with a compressor is the go, I had a cut back tyre from a sharp stone and the cord hole type repair was useless, the stop and go has a mushroom head that will deal a large cut or hole,
also don't waste you money on Co2 canisters as you will need a bucket full of them to get the tyre any where near inflated...... Only speaking from experience
