First ride on a rocket what were your impressions

after first ride .. thought "jezus it's ugly but it's f#ckin awesome to ride"

Reminds me of a girlfriend I had once.........

My first ride was on the first Rocket in Canada and it was mine to ride home. That was in July 2004. I had ordered it the year before based on a rumour and was busy on the net finding out anything I could about the beast, spy shots etc. The official introduction of the Rocket III was to be at the Parry Sound Sport bike rally July 10th and there was no sign of a Rocket in Canada 2 weeks before. Then a pre production bike was sent over for the introduction and before I got a look at it a reporter wrote it off at a press intro. Panic ensued as there was now no bike for the official intro. Triumph America asked who the nearest dealer to the rally was and would he put a Rocket together in time if one was sent up. Next thing I know I got a call from my dealer and she tells me there are two Rockets on the truck! I ended up riding my new bike to the rally before the official intro and as soon as I parked there was a crowd and guys were running from all over for a look. It so happened that the marque of the year was Triumph so the local RAT group were to lead the "Thunder Run" through town and I was invited to lead the parade as I was riding the big new Triumph. That was a blast leading literally thousands of bikes through the town. My fifteen minutes of fame?

My first Rocket ride was a test ride on a Roadster first impression was Sh** what an ugly motorcycle, but what an engine ,I went away thinking I could get used to the Looks maybe Nah! , then right on queue after I had purchased a new C109RT Suzuki the 1800cc Touring model of the Boulevard, the Rocket Touring came on the scene another 12 Months of anguish and I flipped the badly Handling Suzuki for my R3T I love the style and riding position and with the derestriction work it ticks all the Boxes for me.

Saw my first Rocket about 6 years back liked the look of it, 4 years later test rode a classic at the dealers (all they had avaiable to test), loved it so brought the Roadster, been grinning ever since

Well my first ride was on my brothers new 08 classic, I had a M109R for a the time and it handled much better especialy at low speed, liked the power hated the look. Then in 2010 I test rode the roadster and that was it, sold the 109 and got a roadster, the gearbox on the triumph was like an auto it was so smooth compared to the Suzuki and I already new it handled better so it was a done deal.

First ride was on my current bike when I drove several hundred km on my old weinermobile of a bike and traded it in there and rode the Touring home. I had never so much as seen one in person at that point...

First impressions - just going a few 100 meters to top the bike off for the motorway ride that I was going on immediately to try to make it to a ferry - was "Holy **** this bike is massive." Legs spread wide, perched on top of it it felt like (I really disliked the bars without the Rivco risers, wound up leaning forward which wasn't my fave.) Fueled the bike up while eyeing it kind of apprehensively, to be honest. Then, got back on, putt-putted onto the main road and twisted the right handle.

"Oh hell yeah."

Wound up riding it for an extra day in the city since I didn't make the ferry due to some mixups with the paperwork while dealing with the whole trade in and such. It was hot and sunny and, well, I wasn't complaining any...

First time riding the Rocket was the day I collected it from the dealer & my first thoughts were " what the f***k is wrong With this. Turned out that every time I had put my feet on the boards I had caught the heel change & notched it up a gear, not used to the forward foot position you see even the Rocket struggles to pull away from a standstill in 5th. After that it was just Holy $hit lets hang on.

I had a check in my pocket from the credit union telling me it was time to get back in the saddle after hitting Bambi two years earlier (the longest period of my adult life without a bike). I narrowed my list to just ten new bikes I wanted. I had test rode 7-8 of them when I discovered the new Triumph dealer in Manassas. I sat on the bike thinking this is big enough to meet my needs; then I started it and was sold. I didn’t even need to twist the throttle as the torque simply rose up through the frame and seat. I was a little kid at Christmas it would seem. I felt an overwhelming happiness fill my soul. Next, I rode it. So 23,000 miles and 15 months later, I still have that feeling!
