According to Bob, if you weld them up, they will crack. He highly recommended you not weld them. I guess large diameter 304 stainless will flex more than mild steel when heated, thus the need for springs.

@sonny is more qualified than I in welding concerns, but I've known a few, very successful stainless fabricators, that have said anything can be welded if you watch your heat and take your time.
Maybe Carpenter is balancing the cost of the system to make them more accessible. Time, labor and material costs could increase the price a few hundred dollars
how about youre headers with all 3(2 on right side 1 on left)tors for 07 r3 stock for now planning on the ram air what size 2 inch headers maybe?what about performance or would that be a waste of time?

Tig, Full penetration would be ideal which would require a purge of argon even though it is a lap joint. If the individual doing the welding is eating a banana and takes a break to go swing from a tree you might have a problem. All sarcasm aside it would require a welder that knows his @hit.
I’m going to hold off on any purchases till after the RAA. I want to hear and see some of the things the members have and pick some brains, hope they aren’t to pickled at the meet.

I do build a header that is a direct replacement for the stock header.
This will allow your CAT, or CAT delete and the three TORs to slide straight on, but not 2" that will burn your leg.
Many Customers are happy with this combination.
Roadster, not three mufflers, but you get "the picture"
