Exhaust selection advice

We were stationed in northern Japan for, regretfully, only one year and were at first concerned about left lane driving. It took only about a day to feel comfortable with it though.

What a beautiful bit of highway.

On engine building Paul, that's where I am now. I've got three Triumph pre-unit basket cases in the back of my shop just awaiting resurrection but I've just lost interest. 30 years ago I would have loved bringing those old bikes back to life.

Max power, and lowest cost goes to the Carpenter pipe. As far as loud, I don't understand what all the fuss is about. They are not nearly as loud as any Harley running open pipes. DB meters don't lie. As for the leg clearance on the Brutes, I've never had any issues.

I'd be more than a tad disquieted by the bass-ackward lane configuration

For me, I've always used all available space.
This means that blind corners, on coming big lumps of steel or a crap road surface are un-available.
So L/H, R/H side of the road makes no difference to me.

What is interesting of coarse, is travelling the same road in the opposite direction, it is a completely different road.

There was one road "out the back" where I lived some time ago that was about a 23Km loop, I could get around in one direction in about 15 minutes.
But travelling the opposite way, about 22 minutes.

Scot,
Would you mind taking a couple pix seated on your motor from the top, rear & front perspectives to depict the leg clearance with the Brutes?

I can get the top, but I'll have to get someone to take the other 2 pictures.
Waiting

Are you bringing the bike with the Carpenter on it to the RAA east? I’d like to hear one in person.

Yes, that's the one I'm planning on riding. I met with @idk for lunch Thursday, on my way back from Carpenter. I told him if he comes to RAA, I'll bring his old bike to, so he can ride too.

I’m going to hold off on any purchases till after the RAA. I want to hear and see some of the things the members have and pick some brains, hope they aren’t to pickled at the meet.

What is the deal/reason for for the “old school springs everywhere “ on the Carpenter pipes?
