I use non ethanol premium as that is all that is available around here. I started using it last year before winter because of the storage factor. All my gas suckers are using it...generator, mower, weed wacker, leaf blower, etc. If I'm on a trip, then I use whatever I can get... usually a mid grade fuel.
I started doing some research last year and non ethanol has a shelf life with stabilizer up to a year and a half....with ethanol much less at 3 to 6 months but it draws moisture because of the ethanol.
For me, first choice would be running E85, but that’s not an option in this part of the country.
I run ethanol free when given the option, but it’s very difficult to plan out so I go with Shell V-Power if at all possible and when I know I’m going to be hard on the motor I throw in enough TORCO Accelerator for a RON+MON/2 octane rating of 96.
On a stock motor, is just throw in whatever has the 89 octane mark on it tbh.
Ethanol free in everything except my 2016 Jeep. Bro-in-law used to haul gas from the port, to stations. He said the ethanol free octane is in the 90's My Rockets love it! I buy it at my local Shell handi-mart. Called "REC" gas. (recreation)
Id prefer alcohol free gas. Its really hard to find anywhere near the corn belt in the US. But ive put near 20k miles on mine running that crap and so far it hasnt complained.
I use it when I can. It is usually only available around here as premium. Although there is no advantage to using premium if the engine is not built and tuned for it, actually you will lose a very small amoun of power, ethanol contains less energy than gas, so it probably is at least a wash.
