Epic Journey from a kid on a Honda 250, Great read & Pics

Nice trip...on a 250 Rebel.

Too bad at the almost at the end he forgot to tighten his drain plug and siezed the engine.

Interestingly, there are many recorded trips from Alaska to the tip of South America on KLR 650 ADV bikes. 40 horse singles.

I thought it was kind of amazing to take a trip like that on such a small bike and very little geer. I will never get a hole month off from work but I cant wait to do some simular touring on the R3T.

There is only 2 ways to do what he did. Be retired and have a wife to support you and be frugal at the same time or be unemployed. Working age blokes will never have a trip like that come about because your employer will never grant enough vacation time.

I'll give him the cred, he's got big brass ones !

I wouldn't do it on the interstate. Maybe on the back roads.

Inspiring.

I whizz up and down the Interstate on my KLR. It's bigger than the Rebel but it's geared lower and it don't have much more power. If you hold the throttle on the stop, it might make 95 with a tail wind. It's not about having a big bike, it's about enjoying the bike and the trip. I get off the Rock and get on the KLR and it feels like a bicycle but after 20 miles or so, the small feeling goes away. Small bikes are fun. I enjoy riding mine, especially when you have to paddle it backward...uphill into a parking space.:D

Nothing against smaller bikes. I just find interstate riding around here to be 'challenging'. It's definitely an advantage to have a more powerful bike.

I would agree, backing uphill into the driveway is easier on a smaller bike. These Rockets are big *****es !

What an adventure! I don't think I'd make a trip like that even on my Rocket. I don't think I could stay overnight in a "strangers" house like he did. No, I know I couldn't. Too many wackos out there.
