Engine color?

I have an '07 Standard with a black engine, sounds like you probably are looking at a Classic, especially if it has two-tone paint. Good luck and welcome.

2007 Triumph Rocket III models -

Standard - black engine, black valve cover, footpegs, wide handlebar, two-piece seat, solid colors only

Classic - black engine, chrome valve cover, floorboards, pull back handlebar, seat?, two-tone colors only

Classic Tourer - silver engine, chrome valve cover, floorboards, pull back handlebar, one piece seat, windshield, leather bags, passenger backrest and luggage rack, two-tone colors only

This is it. There was no such thing as a Classic with a silver engine nor a Classic Tourer with a black engine. It was either one or the other.

In 2008, the Classic Tourer was replaced with the Touring model with the Standard and Classic models still offered.

2009 was the same.

2010 introduced the Roadster to replace the Standard and Classic. The Touring model remained.

I have the 07 classic tour with all of the chrome they offered at that time it was supposed to have been an $1800 add on package at least that was what I was told but I bought mine in December and they knocked off a bunch the 08 were out wait to cold weather if you can possibly weight big difference in price

I know I should know this but what is the TPS?? Doesn't sound good, thanks for all the advise and wisdom. This is a fantastic site, looking forward to getting a Rocket. Mark

TPS stands for Throttle Position Sensor. There are two of them. The Primary TPS sits on the seat side of the throttle bodies and tells the bikes computer (ECU) what the inner butterflies in the throttle bodies are doing. These are controlled by the throttle cable. The Secondary TPS sits on the radiator side of the throttle bodies and controls the outer butterflies. These are controlled by the ECU to help smooth throttle response. On some of the early 04-07 models, the Primary TPS tends to get wore out after a while, sending false information to the bikes computer and making it do things like idle at 2,000 RPM and generally run like crap.

It's a small, simple part, but necessary (around $130 bucks!) and has to be set correctly by the dealer, or by using TuneECU or TuneBoy software. Triumph has since came out with a "new and improved" Primary TPS, which I have on mine now. For some reason, I've never heard of a Secondary TPS going bad?..

Don't listen to that propaganda. A $2.00 can of black Krylon will get you 2 more hp!

What are you asking for the Nomad? Interested in trading for a 77 Stingray? (Needs work been sitting for a couple of years)

It's good to read a post that answers a question in a way we can all understand
