I am thinking of going Darkside. I have already decided on the rear, but I need a new front as well. I have heard Dunlops last a long time and run great. Anyone have a preference on FRONTS? What size, etc seem to work best?

D 251

Dunlop recomends the D251 for the R3T. I think I'm going to use these, but want to call Dunlop, for I want a soft compound. This bike is way too slick on wet roads with the stock 880 Metzlers. They are also cupped. The dealer said tuff ****, here in Lexington Ky. Lexington Powersports, Mike Pozen was the one who was suppose to "look into it". Just me venting.

I've run Dunlop D404's up front since I went Darkside. The Metzler front started to cup severely after just a few thousand miles so I mounted my first Dunlop. It lasted about 11,000 miles before I changed it a thousand or so early (leaving on a long trip). My second D404 lasted another 12,000 miles. Again, changed it a bit early due to a planned long trip. My third is doing well. I've never had any cupping problems like the Metz.

btw, still on the original darkside Riken Raptor ZR after 26,000+ miles. Getting close to changing it but might run it to 30k for grins.

Most likely cause of cupping and scalloping on the metz is low air pressure, I suspect strongly. I'm using 38 and 44 on my Avons now, and thinking of 40 in the front. Absolutely runs smoother than 34 and 42, and 'll bet lasts longer with no cupping.
