Double bump to engage first gear

I recently purchased a 2006 Carpenter powered Rocket with Robinson back cut gears and billet 4th and have noticed that sometimes I have to double bump into first gear to get it to engage or it will pop out of gear. Only in first. Anybody had this issue and what may cause it? TIA.

I find that when I first put the bike in gear, I need to start the engine, let the clutch out in neutral, pull the clutch lever again, then she clunks into 1st and never jumps out. If I just start the bike and try and drop it into first, it doesn't seem to go in all the way. This only happens on first start up of the day.

^same, these bikes are known for doing this, I usually had to double clutch to get a solid first, although it was actually worse before Carpenter did the transmission.
